The Marion Chamber Foundation, formed in 2010, serves as the 501(c)(3)-exempted supporting organization for the Marion Chamber. The Foundation exists to support arts, culture, education, and community beautification in the City of Marion, Iowa, and to enhance the quality of life of all residents.
Projects
The Marion Chamber Foundation has supported many of Marion's well-known art attractions including the award winning Marion Arts Festival and Uptown Artway. Other beautification projects include Winter Lights, and the Banner program.
The Uptown Artway has given an old alley new life. The space features nine, permanent art installations and serves as a pedestrian destination and community “living room,” with new restaurants, pubs, gathering spaces and lighting to illuminate the night scene.
The Marion Arts Festival is a nationally recognized event featuring 50 exhibitors from across the US and Canada. Whether browsing or buying, festival attendees will experience a wide range of one-of-a-kind objects, with the opportunity of getting to know the artists behind the art.
The Banner Program reaches throughout Marion and welcomes guests and visitors by promoting our community brand, Reach Higher! The months of May-November banners honor military veterans and those currently serving with a connection to Marion.
The Marion Disaster Recovery Fund was activated after Linn County was declared a federal disaster area following the derecho on August 10, 2020. Funds were used to support food insecurity, tree replacement, and grants to aid the most severely impacted residents and businesses.
